East House Recovery Conference

East House’s inaugural conference: Recovery in the 21st Century: Realizing Recovery through Collaboration and Community took an in-depth look at the collaborative nature of recovery and new trends that are reshaping our understanding of supporting healthy and fulfilling lives for individuals living with mental health and substance use disorders. The conference was held on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Rochester, New York. Attendees included individuals in recovery, family members of people in recovery, peers, medical and social services professionals, policy makers, funders and interested members of the community. The keynote speaker was Dr. Jorge R. Petit, community psychiatrist and regional senior vice president for New York State for Beacon Health Options.

Workshop sessions included Families Matter: Integrating Family Involvement in First Episode Psychosis Programs throughout New York State (OnTrackNY); More than Medication… Mind/Body Connections; The Opioid Crisis in New York State: Signs, Symptoms, and Current Trends; Disruptive Innovations in Behavioral Health for the New Economy: Technology and Integrated Care Delivery; Housing is Health Care; New Developments in Understanding and Treatment of Schizophrenia; Behavioral Health System Transformation – What Does It Mean and What Opportunities Exist; Incorporating Peers into the Treatment Team; and Suicide Prevention is Everyone’s Business.
