East House serves adults (age 18 and over) with persistent mental illness. Group homes and apartment programs are tailored to the individual’s specific recovery needs.  Many, as they become more independent, move from group home to apartment program to supported housing.

In 2011, the Mental Health Community Residences Program (excluding Independent Living):

  • Provided 40,734 bed days, serving 121 individuals with only 3% discharged to hospital.
  • Upon completion of program, 73% were moved to more independent living and 32% were involved in work, school or training.

In 2011, the Mental Health Independent Living Program:

  • Provided 13,337 hours of individual support services to 224 individuals to maximize community integration and success in independent housing.
  • 65% of clients discharged were involved in employment, education or training.
