The Independent Living Program (ILP) is an Office of Mental Health supported program at East House which assists individuals with persistent mental illness, age 18 and over, in obtaining safe, affordable housing while offering ongoing service coordination.  ILP serves over 190 individuals, in the housing of their choice within Monroe County, each year.

Services include finding and maintaining safe, affordable housing; symptom management; service coordination including linking to medical, educational, and vocational services; advocacy for clients who are parents of minor children; education and training in independent living skills; money management skills; activities to promote social and recreational skill development and advocacy with other service providers.

Since 1989, this program has a record of success in helping clients to maintain their stable housing and to achieve greater independence and community integration.

All ILP residents are admitted after going through Monroe County’s Single Point of Access and upon completing an evaluation by East House’s Admissions Coordinator.  For more information on referrals, click here.

The Independent Living Program office is located at 259 Monroe Avenue, Suite 200 Rochester, NY 14607.
