Paul Wolk Commons at State Street
Paul Wolk Commons is a mixed-use facility with 45 one-bedroom apartments. Serving adults with severe, persistent mental illness, 30 of the apartments are designated treatment apartments for individuals pursuing recovery. A treatment apartment has 24-hour care onsite and a variety of rehabilitative support, recovery and clinical services to increase independence. The remaining 15 apartments provide affordable housing to Rochesterians living in Monroe County.
Constructed in 1927, this building was once a vacant parking garage. The new facility, named after Paul Wolk, a founding director of East House, opened in July 2012.
Paul Wolk Commons property amenities include 24-hour staffing and security, on-site property management and maintenance, central air, laundry facilities, a community room, a game and television lounge, library, interior and exterior courtyards, and on-site parking. Five units will be fully handicapped accessible, with two additional units adapted for the hearing or visually impaired.
Restorative services offered through the Paul Wolk Commons include but are not limited to:
- One-to-one counseling
- Financial case management
- Medication management
- Support groups including peer to peer
- Healthy living skills
- Independent living skills
- Vocational assessment and training
- Social Outings
All Paul Wolk Commons treatment apartment residents are admitted after going through Monroe County’s Single Point of Access and upon completion of an evaluation by East House’s Admission Coordinator. For more information on referrals, click here.
