Education and employment plays a critical role for individuals in recovery from mental illness and substance use disorder. Through the East House Education and Employment Services Program, clients develop the necessary skills, experience, and confidence to increase their potential for meaningful activity. East House Education and Employment Services programs include the Paul Wolk Learning Center, ACCES-VR, Cognitive Remediation, East House Enrichment Program at RIT, among others. Services provided include: basic reading and math education, TASC preparation (formerly GED); computer skills training; vocational assessment and counseling; job readiness training; referrals to schools and skills training programs; and job development, placement and retention assistance; and follow along support.

Individuals eligible for East House Education and Employment Services include East House current clients and alumni. Outside referrals are also made through ACCES-VR, Recovery Care Treatment Providers at Pathway Houses of Rochester, Unity Women’s Community Residence, Catholic Family Center Residential Units and DePaul SROs.

Education and Employment Services applicants have explored their career choices. Through vocational screening and testing, we aim to ensure that each individual applies for jobs that match his or her qualifications and preferences. In addition, staff will work with employers to gain a full understanding of job requirements and specifications
