Andrew McCarthy is a celebrated actor and director who career has spanned for more than 30 years and whose performances have moved many. He gained fame in the 1980s appearing in iconic films Less Than Zero, Pretty in Pink, St. Elmo’s Fire as well as cult favorites Class, Weekend at Bernie’s and Mannequin. Mr. McCarthy has made numerous television appearances from Law and Order to Gossip Girl and has directed episodes of Orange is the New Black, Grace and Frankie and New Amsterdam. He is also one of today’s leading travel writers and is editor-at-large for National Geographic Traveler magazine. His articles have been published in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, TIME Magazine, National Geographic and The Atlantic.

What many may not know is that Andrew McCarthy struggled with addiction in his early life and has been in recovery for more than 25 years. In 2012, Mr. McCarthy published a New York Times Best Selling memoir The Longest Way Home which highlights his path to recovery and his journey to redefine his life. He also published the 2017 novel Just Fly Away, which was also a New York Times best-selling book. Mr. McCarthy’s story is touching and has inspired many and East House is thrilled to welcome him as keynote speaker for the 12th annual Hope & Recovery Luncheon celebration.
